Is The Samsung Galaxy Worth Buying in 2021?
The Samsung Galaxy A51 was one of the company’s biggest mid-range models for 2020. Samsung’s A-series serves as a more economical alternative for those who want a Samsung smartphone but don’t want to spend over 1000 DT
Is it a good alternative for the price, given the number of competitors in the mid-range? Find out in this Samsung Galaxy A51 review.
Samsung A51: Price in Tunisia
The Samsung Galaxy A51 costs 999 DT in Tunisia, making it a reasonably priced phone.
Samsung A51: Design & Build
The Samsung Galaxy A51 is composed of “Glasstic” by Samsung. This provides the smartphone a higher quality feel than pure plastic phones, but it’s nowhere near as luxurious as the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. After all, it’s still plastic, albeit it’s not as bad as the plastic on other phones in this price bracket. The phone is sleek but not slippery, and it weighs only 158 grams.
The device’s rim is made of metal and appears to be good quality. A power button and volume rockers are on the right, with a USB-C connector, speakers, and a headphone jack on the bottom. The phone’s left side has a dual-SIM card slot that can carry two SIM cards and a 512GB SD card.
Unlike most phones, the A51 includes two different SIM slots and a separate microSD card tray, which uses the second slot for both a SIM card and a microSD card.
It comes in three colours: Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Blue, and Prism Crush White, which shine with a rainbow sheen when hit with light from the right angle.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 features a remarkably excellent display for a sub-1000 DT phone. Most mid-range phones have LCD screens rather than OLEDs; however, Samsung was able to fit a sizeable OLED panel with a dense pixel count into the device. This screen has a resolution of 1080p. The colors are vibrant and bold, as is typical of Samsung panels.
Samsung A51: Performance
With a mid-range Exynos processor and only 4GB of RAM as standard, we didn’t expect the Samsung Galaxy A51 to perform well.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 is a sluggish device. You’ll notice a delay while opening apps and multitasking, as well as stuttering when swiping about the UI. Even with all apps closed, the phone uses 1.9GB of the 4GB of RAM available, which is a terrible sign.
Battery
The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a battery capacity of 4,000mAh. The phone has a battery life of roughly 29 hours. This isn’t as good as phones with considerably larger batteries, but it will get you through the day. This device has a screen-on time of roughly four and a half hours. The A51 can charge at 15W. A full charge on this device takes about two hours.
Samsung A51: Camera
The Galaxy A51 features fairly impressive cameras, and quite a few of them, for a sub-1000 DT phone. There’s a 48-megapixel primary camera with 12-megapixel bins, as well as wide-angle and macro lenses, a depth sensor, and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
The dynamic range on this camera set is good, yet it appears like the shots are underexposed to avoid blowing out highlights. However, for the sake of dynamic range, some camera systems can push the shadows up too far, resulting in an unattractive grey haze in the shadows. This is something that Samsung phones have done in the past, but the A51 does not.
The selfie camera is also fairly nice, with good colour and dynamic range.
Samsung A51: Is It Worth Buying?
The A51 has a fantastic screen, good build quality, decent cameras, and even a headphone jack. It’s also offering three years of guaranteed software updates, ensuring compatibility until Android 12 at the very least. While the build quality and screen are excellent, this phone’s Achilles heel is its poor performance. It won’t be a paperweight anytime soon, with a retail price of 1000 DT, a fantastic OLED display, an all-day battery, and, most importantly, class-leading software support.
